Home Course Details About Us Focus on Teenagers Upcoming Courses Map/Directions Frequently Asked Questions 38 Hour Course Registration 14 Hour Course Registration Behind the Wheel Registration Online Payments All students must now acquire a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) from the OMV before beginning any drivers ed course. Please complete the online registration to secure seat in the class. Registration documents may be completed upon receipt of TIP. Students need to provide to the OMV the following items: Original Birth Certificate Social Security Card (or a Louisiana ID) Students under 18 will also need: Parent along with the parent's ID and any court documents showing custody (domiciliary parent must be present) Letter from their school office showing enrollment and attendance. The cost of the TIP is $36.75 and is valid for 6 years. Drivers education courses may be taken anytime after receipt of TIP. When returning to OMV after completion of courses to convert TIP to a Learners Permit or Full License, there is not an additional fee.
